Healthy Heels Stretch Tip As with any exercise it's important to facilitate proper range of motion and balance in the musculature around the joints. Always stretch in order to avoid injuries and imbalances and use the opposing muscles for well rounded strength. When wearing heels, the toes and ball of the feet are on the ground and the heels are elevated 3" to sometimes 5". Over time, this tightens and overworks the calf muscles and shortens the Achilles tendon. After a long day of walking in heels, this imbalance creates discomfort, aches and often pain.
